My first year in band was in 6th grade. I was a new student at Wood C. Middle School. Mr. Reis, the band teacher, was the greatest teacher ever. He would tell jokes, do stuff. I don't really know, but everybody respected him. Band was my favorite class. I played clarinet, a black instrument that uses a reed. We would just play our instruments in preparation for the concert. There were two concerts, the Winter Concert, and the Spring Concert. In the Winter Concert we played Christmas songs. I do not remember much about 6th or 7th grade in band, so i will skip to 8th grade.
In 8th grade, I took Concert Band. Concert Band was for advanced students who took band for one year. We played many songs, from weddings songs to Hunchback of Notre Dame. There were chairs, 1st and 2nd chair get 1st clarinet, 3rd and 4th get 2nd clarinet, and 5th and 6th get 3rd clarinet. 1st clarinet was the melody with the highest notes, the hardest, and 3rd was the easiest, with more breaks inbetween. I was originally 1st chair, but I lost my chair to Sally Fang. I didn't really care, except I would have to accept matches from other people wanting 2nd chair. If you were in 1st chair, only 2nd chair could challenge you. If you were in 2nd chair, 3rd and 4th chair can challenge you. Only Dongho and this other girl challenged me, so it wasn't a big deal.
In 9th grade, because I liked band, took Concert Band at Alameda High. I thought it would be fun like Mr. Reis's class. I was wrong. It turned out worst. It was not fun, and was pretty much boring. The teacher was new at teaching. I just slacked off in that class and bearly even played. I was in 4th chair. I could pretend I was playing, and he didn't even care. He didn't even notice me not playing. Nobody actually liked the teacher, but just stayed in that class. My mom got me out of the final, which was to play for the senior graduation. Instead, I went to my cousin Beverly's graduation. This year I am happy to say I'm not taking band.

Salem Witch Hunt
The Salem Witch Hunt consisted of four cities. They were Salem Village, Salem Town, Ipswich, and Andover. They started with a 9 year old and her 11 year old cousin began to scream, say strange things, and put themselves in weird positions. The doctor could not find any cure for this "disease", and other women began to have similar symptoms. A woman of the Church, was accused of being a witch. If a person of the Church was a witch, then anybody could be one. Afterward, many women were being accused of being witches, and were killed. Men, also could be witches.
Until 1693, many people were killed, accused of being a witch. Five people were found not guilty, Susannah Post, Eunice Frye, Mary Bridges Jr., Mary Barker, and William Barker Jr. This became the end of the Salem Witch Hunt. Only twenty people were actually tried, and executed. They were executed by being hanged, tied to a chair and thrown in water, etc. One thing I don't get is how do they prove they are a witch? Why not just throw a bucket of water on the "witch" and see if she melts like the Wizard of Oz?
The Salem Witch Hunt reminds me of the movie The Covenant. In the movie, there are four "witches", all males. They are the four witches of Ipswich, and all have different powers. The more they use their power, the more addicting it gets. The downside to their power is they age faster as they use it. The four are almost of age where their power grows stronger. They meet another witch, the fifth brother. They learn that one of the people that was supposed to be executed during the Salem Witch Hunt escaped. This new witch is addicted to his power, and abuses it. The oldest of the four defeats him, after his father "wills" him his power.

QW: Writing Groups
I want other people to correct my work, I don't like to read my own paper and correct. I write down my ideas before I write, I have bad memory, and forget things. I usually don't get writer's block, I write about random things.
I like to proofread other people's papers. I like to correct grammar, not cutting out words like the redundancy quizzes. I'm actually very picky on books, I know interesting books that I think other people would like to read. I can comment on other people's blogs, but I doubt they will look at them. I don't even read my own.
I think it is important to work with both. You get to meet people while still working with a friend. You would never be left out. It's easier talking to a friend than a person you don't know.
The point of groups is to ask questions from people about things that are unclear or confusing in a book. You don't have to go over everything if you get it. It would take too long to go over everything. Correct each others work, make sure everybody is working. Protect privacy by putting brackets over it, so the reader will know to skip that part of the essay. Or, do not put it in your essay at all.

English Final Exam #6,8,10
6. In what way(s) have you surprised yourself this semester on your blog? Have you tried topics you didn't think you'd write about? Approached a familiar topic from an unfamiliar angle? Discovered more "depth" to a topic than you first thought was possible? Explain.
In my blog last year, I surprised myself by writing about McDonalds. I wanted chicken strips, and decided to write about McDonalds. Usually, I order food and eat. I don’t care about calories, cholesterol, fats, etc. It was pretty fun looking at McDonald's website for the first time at the nutrition facts. I always wondered why my mom would limit me to eating McDonald’s only once every two weeks. At first, I was going to write about their foods in general. Then, I decided to write more in depth about their menu, like which types of foods I do and don’t enjoy. After I blogged about McDonald’s, I watched Super Size Me for the first time. I watched Morgan's cholesterol levels rise; gaining more weight must have been hard for him.
One topic I did not think I would blog about is "Time". I don’t think about time that much, only when I look at a clock. I began to question myself, "What would people do without clocks?" People would not have a fixed schedule, we probably wouldn’t know what day or year it is. We use time in schools, work, etc. People could not be paid by hour if we did not have time, we would have to use the sun as a clock. People calculate when the sun goes up and down, as the sky grows dark. I realized how many things I could write about time: time travel, units of time, even the origin of clocks. One thing I could have included in there was "Timeline" a movie about a lost professor trapped in the 1500's. His son as well as his students decided to go back in time also, and save the professor. The company in the movie that produced time travel did not know they were doing it, and accidentally discovered a wormhole.
8. How do you like having a blog? How has blogging changed the way you write, the way you think, or the way you think about writing?
Having a blog is like having a pencil and paper on a computer. I can keep track of how many words I have, I can write faster, and use the internet if I need help writing something. I enjoy writing on the computer, as my hand hurts from taking notes during school. On a computer, other people can actually read my writing. Sometimes I think that a blog is just like Microsoft Word. When I write on Blogger, I notice I can’t press the tab button to indent on new paragraphs. Also, I prefer to blog than write on paper, because it is more enjoyable to me
Having to think of a subject to write about takes a while. It has made me pull up subjects about the past, like "Fire Emblem 6 and 7", and "Disneyworld". I remember going to Disneyworld three times vividly. The first time I went, I was five years old. It was a year after I had a hernia. I actually do not remember being at Disneyworld, but more on the cruise I went on with my family. One time on the ship, we had to go outside and wear a life jacket, incase if the ship sank. Everybody was required to have on an orange life jacket. It made me hard to breathe, and it was hot outside. The second time I went was with my cousins, when I was older. We went on all the "big" rides, because all the little kiddy rides were boring. During our stay, we went to every theme park once. On the final day, we went to Downtown Disney, basically a shopping mall for Disney themed toys, and restaurants.
Ever since I was little, I hated writing and reading, English. It is still my worst subject. I hate writing because my hand gets tired from writing too much, and ink smudges on my hand. If I mess up, I would cross out the word or letter and continue. Now that I’m in high school, I have to use an eraser. Mr. Joo prefers us to cross out errors, and now, it is difficult switching back. When I am on the computer, I actually enjoy writing. It is a way to express myself. Blogging has really changed the way I write, mainly because I enjoy doing it. Writing an in-class essay, which nobody likes, is hard to do. We are timed, and have to work efficiently. On blogger, we get to type whatever we want, and we have a deadline of a week.
10. Where do you get your ideas for blog post topics? What inspires you to write?
My inspiration comes from anything I think about. I watch Spongebob a lot, so I blogged about it. I write about things I can talk about. My blog on McDonalds came from my cravings of chicken strips. I decided to research a little on McDonalds, and wrote about it. I do not choose topics I can’t write on, or topics that are unclear to me. I sometimes like to write about my everyday life because I don’t know what else to write about. I run out of ideas quickly. Even though I wrote ninteen blogs, I still have trouble finding things to write about. Anybody can write about anything, but the writing may not reflect what it is really about.
One time, instead of writing about "My Day", I almost wrote about Microsoft and their rise in technology. I love learning about history, and it is one of my favorite classes. I do my research on Wikipedia. It has articles about various things. Sometimes, when I’m bored, I will look up random things. I usually look up World War 2. I always get confused on how it started. I will blog about this later, but made into two blogs.
My inspiration to blog also comes from things I have, or did. For example, I wrote "My Every Other Year Trip to Maui", "Schindler's List", and "Fire Emblem 6 and 7". I read Schindler's List for my History book report. I also watched the movie two years ago. It was quite traumatizing, and showed that Schindler cared for his workers. Fire Emblem is a game that I played when I was in the seventh grade. When I heard there was a prequel to Fire Emblem, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and bought the game Fire Emblem: Fuin no Tsurugi on Ebay. I beat both of them.

My Day
Like any school day, I wake up at 6. My alarm (mom) screaming "WAKE UP RYAN!" until I get up. Then I go shower, brush teeth, etc. By the time I'm finished, I go downstairs, take my breakfast and go to school.
In 0 period PE, basically we just ran 25 pacers, which isn't as much as usual. My 1st period art class was pretty boring. My table it practically empty, there's only 6 people in my table and only 4 of us usually come. Math was pretty much the same as usual. We do work for about 40 minutes, and Mr. Lamb gives his lecture. He assigned us homework today, which I'm actually excited to do. I actually haven't done his homework for some time now, about 2 months. My grade has dropped 4%, and now, I'm planning on doing the homework. The only exciting thing today was Mr. Joo showing his Christmas presents, and lighting his table on fire with alcohol. He received a request from Monty to write an M, and light it on fire, it was pretty awesome. For Christmas he got a "Women of Hawaii" Calendar, and a Mickey Mouse hat with "Joo" engraved on the back of it. Finally, Spanish came. Ms. Castro gave a pop quiz, which mostly everybody failed. I got a 12/20, which is better than most people, and she didn't even count it as a grade. She says this will help us prepare for the test on Friday.
Well, today I have been doing homework for the last six hours, accomplishing basically nothing. I watch tv, eat, and play games while I do homework. I had Spanish, Math, History, Chemistry, well, basically everything besides PE. In the last hour, I did my history and spanish homework. Now, I have to study for my math and chemistry test on Thursday, and a spanish test on Friday. I actually don't get why teachers test us when we get back, because people don't really remember anything.
