People participate in genocides for a belief, a reason, or are forced into it. Sometimes, a person may believe a certain race of people should die, and be extinguished from the world. Other times, animals are killed as food, or just because of hate. Genocide doesn't particularly mean killing certain types of people or animals, but also means grouping together. The Native Americans in the USA were grouped together in Oklahoma so the Americans could settle in the new land. Genocide is wrong, and people practice it everyday. Genocide doesn't only apply to humans, but to every living creature.
In War World Two, the Nazi Party created the Holocaust, a mass killing of people with Jewish heritage, mental disabilities, Gypsies, and other people. Their symbol, the peace sign, flipped backwards. It was a symbol of hate, war, and anger. Adolf Hitler believed that Jews were a lower form of human that was not required. Nazis believed this too, as Hitler was their leader. Jews were sent to concentration camps, camps for people to work until they died. They had various tasks like shoveling snow, or working on machines. Sometimes, they were gassed, went on death walks (Elie Wiesel was a part of one), or used like lab rats in medical experiments. Germans were sent in the war to conquer other countries, as well as protecting the mainland. Hitler believed he could conquer the entire world with the help of Italy and Japan. They would declare war on almost every country. They were known as the Axis. The Allies, France, UK, America, and the Soviet Union would try and stop the Axis. In the end, the Allies won, and freed everybody from concentration camps.
Slaughterhouses are located all around the world. Their purpose is to kill animals for meat. Some of the common animals are cows, chickens, pigs, and lamb. Others are duck, quail, etc. The list just keeps going and going. These animals are artificially selected for better traits. For example, farmers pick out chickens with bigger breasts. They can sell more white meat, and get more money for each chicken. White meat has less fat, which most people like. People don't enjoy eating fat. Lard, a common ingredient used in food, is fat. It tastes good, and people don't actually realize they're eating pig fat mixed in with other ingredients. Some people become vegetarians because they believe animals shouldn't die for human consumption. They eat plants, because they have no feeling or emotion. People however will never stop eating meat, and so, slaughterhouses will keep killing animals.
The Indian Removal Act of 1830, signed by President Andrew Jackson, made the Five Civilized Tribes move into the Indian Territory, known as Oklahoma today. Americans wanted access to more land, and forced the Native Americans to move in an area close together, a group. The Five Civilized Tribes consisted of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. They originally lived in the Southeastern part of the USA, and were forced to move. The Cherokee were the ones who were hurt the most. They were put in concentration camps, where many of them died of starvation, disease, and the cold. The reason why many people wanted the Cherokee's lands was because of the discovery of gold in Georgia, where the Cherokee lived. People also wanted to explore and settle in the new land acquired from the French in the Louisiana Purchase; and also explore in Florida, where the Seminole lived.
My belief about humanity is when people have a major problem, they will do whatever it takes to get rid of it. In War World Two, many people were grouped together and killed because of Hitler. When people want meat, we raise and slaughter many animals. In the Georgia Gold Rush, people forced the Native Americans to live in Oklahoma. Although my thought about humanity isn't always true. Global warming, a big problem for the world, isn't being taken seriously. It's a slow problem, but builds up through the years. People should try and solve this problem now. Glaciers are melting in Antarctica, and polar bears are endangered because they cannot find glaciers to rest on.
